ACADEMICALLY SOUND, COLLEGE BOUND
Our motto at Dudley Elementary School is Academically Sound, College Bound. Our goal is for all students to understand they have the opportunity to attend post-secondary education if they so choose. Each classroom flies a college or university flag and has a college corner where the teacher displays their own degrees, pictures, etc. from their personal college experience. Each Wednesday all students and staff are encouraged to dress in college wear.
ACCELERATED READER
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program is utilized in grades 1 through 5. Our library has an AR section so that students can quickly locate books at their reading level. Since the program is network based students can take AR quizzes at computers throughout the school including both computer labs. A link to current AR quizzes is found at the bottom of this page.
DESIGNATED INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES-SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION/RESOURCE SUPPORT PROGRAM
(DIS-SGI/RSP)
One of the Special Education Services available at Dudley is DIS-SGI/RSP. Students qualify for this service through academic and cognitive testing. DIS students spend most of the school day in their general education classroom and go to the resource room to work on academic goals in a small group environment.
INTERVENTION
AB 1639, Intensive Instructional Programs, requires school districts to offer supplemental instruction (interventions) to students who are retained in grades 2 through 8 because grade level standards in reading, writing or mathematics have not been met. Students at risk of retention also qualify for these special intervention opportunities. At Dudley, Intervention is offered before school Monday through Thursday.
LEARNING CENTER
The learning center staff will provide small group instruction during the school day to students who are far below grade level in reading and math.
COUNSELING CENTER
The counseling center meets the needs of students who are experiencing difficulty coping with school expectations, peer relations, grief and anger management. The Dragon Pal program focuses on kindergarten through third grade students who are having difficulty transitioning, are shy or are impulsive.
